Octreotide Acetate
Somatostatin analog for acromegaly and neuroendocrine tumors. Potent inhibitor of growth hormone and gastrointestinal peptide secretion, providing sustained hormonal control.
Octreotide Acetate, marketed under the brand name Sandostatin, is a synthetic cyclic octapeptide analogue of somatostatin, a naturally occurring tetradecapeptide hormone. First approved by the FDA in 1988, octreotide acetate was the first somatostatin analogue to enter clinical practice and has since become the gold standard reference for all subsequent somatostatin analogues. Its pharmacologic profile closely mimics that of native somatostatin while offering significantly enhanced potency and duration of action.
