Somatostatin Acetate
Native somatostatin for hemostasis and pancreatic applications. Broad-spectrum inhibitor of growth hormone, insulin, and glucagon secretion for acute hormonal control.
Somatostatin is a naturally occurring tetradecapeptide (14 amino acids) cyclic hormone produced primarily in the hypothalamus and pancreatic D-cells. It acts as a potent inhibitor of multiple endocrine and exocrine secretions, including growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, and gastrin. It is widely used in the emergency treatment of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding, particularly esophageal variceal hemorrhage, and in the perioperative management of gastrointestinal pancreatic endocrine tumors.
