Terlipressin Acetate
Vasopressin prodrug for esophageal varices and hepatorenal syndrome. Selective V1 receptor agonist with prolonged vasoconstrictive action for portal hypertension and circulatory support.
Terlipressin Acetate, also known by the brand names Glypressin and Variquel, is a synthetic analogue of vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone) and a prodrug of lysine vasopressin (lypressin). Structurally, it is a triglycyl-lysine vasopressin in which three glycyl residues are added to the N-terminus of the lysine vasopressin peptide. This unique structural modification enables a sustained-release mechanism upon intravenous administration.
